Congratulation to all the team for an excellent season gaining promotion to the First Division. Thanks also to Todd at David Lloyds West Bridgford for arranging the courts and the practices, they really helped especially as most away matches were at David Lloyds!
The squad was greatly strengthened this year with Tony Alexander and Pete Whitehead coming up from the Over 50’s. Despite injuries to Steve Wallace and Edward Benson preventing them from playing we had strength in depth with Anthony Leccisotti and guest appearances from the Over 65’s from Dave Watkins and Alan Philpott. The main team was Tony Alexander and Nick Lodge as singles with Pete Whitehead and Russ Blenkinsop as doubles. Pete covered for any singles Nick/Tony couldn’t play.
We only lost one match (v Derbyshire 2-3) and that was when Tony was injured and had to forfeit the singles and the doubles. We had a resounding 10-0 win v Durham and two 8-2 wins v Yorkshire and Cambridgeshire.
