Andy Lapthorne clinched his fourth ITF 1 Series quad singles title and his second career win over American world No.2 David Wagner as the Cajun Classic drew to a close.
Second seed and world No. 4 Lapthorne produced undoubtedly his best performance against former world No. 1 Wagner in their nine career meetings to win the quad singles final 6-2, 6-2.
"It's a great way to start this important American part of the Tour as we get closer and closer to the end of the qualification period for the London 2012 Paralympics in May, so I'm delighted with the win. It's my best performance to date against Wagner and tt bodes well for the rest of the trip and the upcoming Florida Open Super Series event in a couple of weeks."
Lapthorne and Jamie Burdekin were runners-up in the quad doubles after a 6-2, 6-3 loss to American top seeds Nick Taylor and Wagner in the final of that ever later in the day. Meanwhile, Lucy Shuker and Jordanne Whiley were unable to secure an upset for the second match in a row in the women's doubles as the fourth seeds lost their final to Dutch top seeds Jiske Griffioen and Aniek van Koot 6-2, 6-0.
Louise Hunt also finished runner-up in the women's consolation singles final after a narrow 6-4 6-4 loss to Chile's Francisca Mardones.
