Meanwhile in the singles Dan Smethurst reached second round of the men's singles before falling to Jesse Galung in three sets.

Dan Smethurst is into the second round of the men's singles after defeating qualifier Dimitar Grabul 6-3, 6-0. Alex Ward has also been in action but missed out to fourth seed Yannick Mertens of Belgium in three sets.

Three British players compete in the singles this week in France with Lewis Burton facing world number 363 Ilija Bozoljac in round one whilst Dan Smethurst takes on qualifier Dimitar Grabul and Alex Ward meets fourth seed Yannick Mertens of Belgium.
Ward and Burton will also feature in the doubles draw; Ward pairing Andreas Viniciguerra of Sweden whilst Burton partners Ireland's James Clusky with the pair already through to the quarter-finals after receiving a first round bye.
