Open Day at the new site of Wokingham Tennis Club – Sunday 1st July
Since moving from Wellington Road to our new site at Sindlesham, along with Wokingham Cricket Club, the Tennis Club has thrived. Membership has increased rapidly and is still rising.
Sunday’s open day was a celebration, and official opening of the impressive new facilities.
We were pleased to welcome Matt Allwright from the BBC programme “Rogue Traders” who cut the ribbon and enjoyed a game on the new courts. Matt was a player at Woodley Tennis Club in his youth, and lives locally, we are hoping his experience today will encourage him to join us again.
Wokingham and Woodley Tennis Clubs have been merged now for several years in terms of the teams and club play.
Several activities were available for all age groups including Playball and the Tennis Factory for our younger guests. An entertaining exhibition match by some of the county ladies team, a cardio tennis session and general play added to what was an action packed day.
We were pleased to welcome a constant stream of visitors along with a large number of the current membership, who enjoyed both the activities and the BBQ and made the day a huge success.
