Monday, November 16, 2015

This summer's Berkshire Closed Challenge Cup for Adults was a great success in August and it is going to be held again in 2016 at Bracknell LTC!

The Ladies winner Rebecca Howard was presented with a box of chocolates and with a beautiful silver cup donated in 1927 by Sir Stewart Abram for the Berkshire Ladies Singles Championship.

All those years ago the first winner was Mrs C Tuckey, the cup has been dusted down and put up again as a challenge trophy for all ladies who play some tennis in Berkshire.

Rebecca now 20 ,has played for  the Berkshire 12 and 14 girls County  teams ,played and been coached as a junior at Bracknell LTC and has coached herself for a short while at RSF LTC. She is now at Brunel University playing for the teams.

James Mckinnon a coach at Reading Tennis Club had a great run beating really good players ranked much higher ;the Men's cup has been donated by Berkshire LTA. for the first time this year

We are grateful for Bracknell LTC for hosting the tournament , the organiser Andy Speight ,and for our sponsors Tutts Clump Proper Cider and Chocolate For Chocoholics for providing chocolates for every lady player and cider for the men.
