Juniors from across the Channel Islands are being invited to the Islands' first junior timed tennis competition next week.
The new format allows players with a beginner rating to compete against other players at a central venue in short, sction-packed 20 minute matches.
The event is being held at St Clements Tennis Club, Jersey on Saturday 21st May from 4pm and is being run by Simon Johnson & Hugh Raymer on behalf of the LTA.
Simon Johnson said
"Sometimes people are put off playing in matches and tournaments because of the length of time the matches can take. This new format for players new to the game is ideal to get them competing for the first time and hopefully increase their LTA player rating."
Timed tennis competitions are attractive to both players and parents who want to come and compete for 2-3 hours and the team on the Channel Islands plan to roll out more events on Guernsey in the following month.
