Congleton Lawn Tennis Club celebrates its 125th anniversary in 2015
As part of our celebrations we are launching an event which we hope will become a regular Cheshire wide club competition
On SUNDAY 5TH JULY we are proud to be hosting the first ever BURTON SHIELD – named after our chairman of over 40 years, Alex Burton
The BURTON SHIELD will be a competition for mixed doubles teams of two pairs and will be played in a similar format to the current Monkhouse Shield county event for junior teams
There is space in the competition for 16 teams who will be able to enjoy a full day of tennis on the nine courts at our base in South East Cheshire
There will be four groups of four teams with each team playing against all of the teams in their group
Whist the winners of each group will go into the semi finals , the other teams will move to play in ranking matches against teams from the other groups , giving all teams and players a full day of tennis in what we hope will be glorious sunny weather !!
Refreshments will be available to players and spectators during the day
