Esperanza Merry & her British partner Dermot Bailey were runners up in the Mixed Doubles at the 25th British Open Wheelchair Tennis Championships in Nottingham.  They lost to the defending champions & No. 1 seeds.

This was a great achievement and bodes well for the future as Mixed Doubles is soon to be introduced as a Paralympic event and taking part in the Paralympics in Rio seems even more attainable now as Esperanza has broken into the Top 50 of the ITF Womens Doubles rankings for the first time. She is currently No. 44 in the world.

The British Open is one of six worldwide events to have Super Series status, the highest tier of tournament on the UNIQLO Wheelchair Tennis Tour, outside of the Grand Slams.
11 of the Worlds top 12 Women competed at this years British Open & 11 of the Top 12 Men.

Esperanza, aged 13 is youngest player ever to appear in the Final of a Super Series tournament. Last year aged 12 Esperanza was the youngest player ever to play at the Super Series level of tournaments.
