Playing at Didsbury, Manchester, the team lost to Cheshire 3-1. David Evans and Doug Cook lost a very close match against Tony Burgess and David Nield in two tie-break sets 7-6 7-6. Evans and Cook then beat the Cheshire second pair 4-6, 6-2, 1-0(3). Unfortunately, Johnny Weymouth and Les Harries were unable to cope with the strong opposition and lost their matches 6-2, 6-2 and 6-2, 6-0.
With only 4 payers available due to the retirement from County play of others this season, the committment of the remaining players is to be commended, especially when faced with the long distances that are involved in this season's fixtures
