Devon come up against Avon and Somerset on day 1 with Taylor Ingham-Hill on top form winning both of his singles matches, Nathan Woo & Harry Burcham battled hard just to fall short in their singles matches. Taylor and Nathan teamed up for the doubles and losing out to Avon but beating Somerset in a close championship tie-break.
On Day 2 Devon come up against Gloucestershire in a play-off for 3rd place. Taylor was up first in the singles where he didn’t manage to show the form that he brought to day 1 and was outplayed by his opponent. Harry and Nathan were up next both coming from a set down to take it to a championship tie-break, both just falling short at the end. It was then down to Taylor and Harry in the doubles with some fantastic net play and team work managing to take it on another championship tie-break with Devon coming out on top.
After a weekend of fantastic tennis Devon finished in 4th place, team captain Steve Ashton said “It was an absolute pleasure to captain the 10 & U County Cup Boys Team this year, the competition was tough and the boys done Devon proud! There was a great team spirit helped by all staying at the same hotel and going out on the Saturday evening for a lovely meal with players and their parents."
