In a weekend blessed with fine weather until the last half hour of play the Senior County Closed Championships saw Torquay's Kendal Brown take home the Ladies Singles title for the seventh year running depsite a great challenge from Sidmouth's Emma Hurst.

The men's singles had a new Champion this year in Alfie Flatters who defeated 17 year old Buzzy Avis, 6-1, 6-3.

Other results were:
Mens Doubles: A Higham/A Norton bt A Flatters/R Foster 7-5, 6-4
Mixed Doubles: Kate Brown/A Norton bt Kendal Brown/B Avis 4-6, 6-2, 1-0(13)
40+ Mens Singles: R Jackson bt A Koval 6-3, 6-3
40+ Mens Doubles: R Elver/P Elver bt N bond/R Jackson 6-4, 6-3

Entry numbers from the men were very good this year and the competition was strong but sadly the ladies entry was little short of woeful which is a very sad state of affairs for the County and future County teams.

This year the veterans will be having their own County Closed Championships in September at Torquay.
