On a beautiful sunny day at Torquay Tennis Club the Devon over 50s ladies took on a depleted Cambridgeshire team who were only able to field one pair. Devon's no. 1 pair secured a nice two sets victory with a tie break win in the first and 7 – 5 in the second set. Our second pair then played them and won with a score of 6 –3, 7-5.
The final result of the match was 4 rubbers to 1 as a rubber was deducted as a penalty for bringing only 2 players.
Captain Sue Roberts said, "It was a good result for the start of the season."
