After 3 months off due to an injury to her hip, Esperanza recently competed at the ITF wheelchair grade 3 Women's Open de Vendee in France.  Esperanza was the lowest ranked player in the tournament & the youngest by 12 years.

Esperanza lost in the Quarter Final of the Women's Singles. She won the Consolation Singles Final and was runner up in the Women's Doubles Main Draw in a closely fought final.

At the tender age of 13, Esperanza has moved up to ITF World  No. 57 in the women’s ranking.

Dad Kevin said, “The tennis wheelchair lost a couple of bolts in transit so had to be patched up. The wind was incredibly strong with the highest gusts for decades and the event was physically demanding for the Esperanza with her singles final lasting an hour and 20 minutes, a 30 minute rest and then a doubles final lasting 2 and a half hours! Playing tennis & pushing the chair was quite gruelling! However, Esperanza enjoyed the tournament, it was an excellent learning process in every way.”

Esperanza is now competing for the GB junior team in the BNP Paribas World Team Cup in the Netherlands. This is the ITF's flagship wheelchair tennis team event.  Read more
