Road to Wimbledon 2015

Monday, August 24, 2015

I arrived at Wimbledon on Sunday 9th August and I went straight on the grass courts to practise for the next day. It was great to see everyone in white and the grass courts felt bouncy much different to the courts I'm used to playing on.
Straight away I found a friend called Leah from Surrey who is also 11 who I have met before on tennis tournaments so I asked her to be my doubles partner.
Over the next couple of days I won 3 out of 3 matches in the single qualifiers which meant I was through to the main draw. Then I won my next match but then got knocked out in the qualifiers.
In the doubles we won our first 3 matches working together as a team and ended up in the final. We were both so pleased. It was a bit of a rush as we had to go straight to the players party and it was a quick change in the players lounge ready for the party. There was a photo booth, music, lots of Indian food and also a soccer trick superstar came who was called Andrew Henderson who shared us some of his tricks.
Finals day was an amazing atmosphere with the sun shining. We all attended a Tim Henman masterclass which was a brilliant warm up for us ready for our final.
After loosing the first set 5-7 we went to 1-4 down but after keeping our cool and patience we managed to bring it back and ended up winning the second set 4-6. We were the the last final on so everyone was watching and cheering. We won the next 4 points then ended up winning in tie break 10-5. We got handed our trophy of Tim Henman and got our picture took with him.
It was an amazing experience playing on grass and getting treat like professional tennis players for the week.
