Robert Fisher and Alex Hume, make Gloucestershire and the South West proud!

This following report has been written by Janet Fisher:

Robert and Alex had a brilliant experience recently at the Special Olympics in Sheffield., Robert loved staying in the athletes village mixing with other athletes and feeling part of a squad. Even the rain during the opening ceremony didn't dampen their spirits and watching the athletes parade round made me feel very proud of them both as they waved to all the crowd.

Robert loved representing the South West and felt proud wearing his kit. He came away with a silver medal in division 4 and Alex a gold medal in division 3. The doubles was a very tough group for them as they were placed in the top division and two of the partnerships were also in the top singles division, so actually three above Robert. Despite playing some good shots they finished in fourth position. By playing in the top group though, they know what they have to do to improve.

The next challenge for them is the Tennis Foundation National Tennis Championships in October. They are back to training straight away as they are at Oxstalls Tennis Centre this afternoon.
