In this year's County Cup, Hampshire & IOW were competing in Division 4A.
Our Hampshire team players were: Sue Espley, Claire Coomer, Wendy Burnston, Lynne Jackson, Fiona Nicholson
The other counties in our division were: Shropshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire
Day 1 vs Shropshire
Wendy and Sue were first on playing the singles matches, followed by Claire and Lynne playing the first round doubles match. We got off to a flying start winning all of them. It continued in the second round, where Claire and Fiona and Sue and Wendy, all managed to win taking the day to 5-0 to Hampshire.
Day 2 vs Berkshire
Day 2 was a windy and frustrating day, with some close matches. Sue and Wendy played singles and Claire and Fiona played 2 doubles and finally Lynne came in and played the final match with Wendy. We were unable to win any of them, so final result 5-0 to Berkshire.
Day 3 vs Buckinghamshire.
After a late start due to rain, Fiona and Sue went onto play the singles, both of which managed to win 10-8 in the third set tie break. This was followed up by a quick win the doubles by Claire and Wendy giving Hampshire the 3 rubbers they needed to win the tie, and come 2nd in our Division.
A great weekend was has by all, with some great tennis and personal achievements.
