Reminders of Wimbledon and raising money for charity

Thornden Tennis Club held its Finals Day on a hot, sunny Saturday in July. The matches were played with a competitive edge whilst at the same time being fun and friendly and produced some great results in all age groups including juniors, adults and a parent and child tournament.

Whilst the day was all about tennis, it wasn’t just about the club as committee members wanted to raise money for charity and did so with the sale of strawberries and Pims. In total £100 was raised for the charity Tennis First which is a Charitable Trust that helps young players throughout the UK who are dedicated to fulfilling their potential of reaching a senior ranking of 250 or higher. The charity offers help with coaching, travelling expenses and training and can be found at: www.tennisfirst.org.uk

Thornden Tennis Club, Chandlers Ford, is a very friendly club for anyone who wants to play tennis and offers a comprehensive coaching programme from mini tennis (age 4) though to older juniors and adults, including the popular get-fit programme of cardio tennis. Junior coaching will begin again in September so book your place early.
