Winchester played host to some top clubs from UK and Ireland on Saturday 8th September when it held the second Centenary Tennis Clubs of UK and Ireland tournament. The inaugural event was held last year at Roehampton and this year it was Winchester’s turn to welcome fellow centenary clubs, Roehampton, Edgbaston Priory and from Ireland Carrickmines Tennis Club and Fitzwilliam Tennis Club.
A team of players from each club representing various age groups contested the tournament all day on Saturday and then the event as rounded off by a special centenary clubs presentation dinner in the evening.
Special guest visitor for the event was Juan Maria Tintore, President of the Association of Centenary Tennis Clubs. Mr Tintore flew in from Barcelona to attend the event.
Winchester did particularly well on the day winning the mens and ladies 45+ doubles event and also the mens 55+ doubles event
