University Tennis Programme

The support available through the University Tennis programme aims to grow the game, by creating more opportunities for students to play and compete. It also aims to provide students with the latest training packages, for those that have an ambition to become part of the future workforce for British tennis. Support is available to all universities and at a range of different levels to help increase and improve tennis provision.

A number of Universities are currently being supported across the South including Southampton Solent, the University of Southampton and the University of Portsmouth Tennis Club. Each is receiving funding and support from the local development team to support them in developing their existing offer to their members and the thousands of students who could get involved.

Andy Trott, LTA Tennis Development Officer “It is important that as with any club University Tennis Clubs cater to a diverse range of students, if the club can have an entry point at each level from introduction and tasters sessions through to support for performance tennis they will succeed and open up the opportunity to attract support from the University and local partners.”
