Free Tennis at Olympic Legacy event in St Albans

Wednesday, August 07, 2013

St Albans will be celebrating the legacy of London 2012 on August 10th and – following on from gold medallist Andy Murray’s further triumph – tennis will be taking centre stage.

Verulamium Park is hosting the event which will see a number of sports on offer for people to try and the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) will be on hand to provide equipment and coaching totally free of charge.

Cross Sports equipment will be used so people can test how fast their serve is as well as a number of other different fun tennis activities on one of the three courts during the day which runs from 11am-6pm.

Between 1-4pm on the two other courts there will be free tennis coaching for adults including Cardio Tennis – a tennis-based fitness workout – and LTA Mini Tennis for children using smaller courts, rackets and lower bouncing balls.

Leo Tutt, LTA Tennis Development Manager for Hertfordshire, said: “This is a really exciting opportunity for local people to pick up a racket and take part in some fun tennis activities.

“All the tennis activities will be free to access on the day, with free use of equipment and LTA-qualified coaches will be on hand to guide everyone through the activities.

“Our mission is to get more people playing tennis more often, so I would urge everyone to get down and have some fun on the day.”
