Great Britain call up for Oliver Tarvet

St Albans Oliver Tarvet has been selected to represent Great Britain in an 11&U friendly match against France in Paris on 13th/14th February 2014. The team of four boys and four girls will also take part in a three day national tournament during their one week trip abroad.

His father Garry said, "The whole family are thrilled with the news. I had originally queried with the LTA why Oliver had been invited to an 11&U national player camp as he is still only 10 years old. When the age group captain Mike Woods informed me that it was in fact a three day training session for a team to play France it was a very proud moment."

Oliver who trains at Batchwood Tennis Academy has enjoyed a successful start to the winter season, playing impressively to take consecutive national titles at Bolton and Sunderland as well as a 5th place at Gosling Sports Park, Welwyn Garden City before Christmas. Head Coach Jon Meredith commented, “Oliver has been working extremely hard over the last year, so it’s not surprising he was selected. As the fourth Batchwood player to represent Great Britain in the last six years he can be really proud of the achievement. We look forward to seeing him and dozens of other players training at the brand new Batchwood Tennis Centre which will be opening later this year!”
