On 16 and 17 May, we experienced our 2nd GBTW. It was a most enjoyable weekend and we attracted 9 Adult Members and 4 Juniors. We are most grateful for the support and the advice we received from Herts LTA in planning and marketing our event. Jane Fransen, Chairman of our Sub Committee, was brilliant.
We were fortunate enough to get sponsorship from Porsche which resulted in having these cars on site! Our Lady Captain had the great idea of filling the boot of the yellow one with tennis balls. All new members signing up on the weekend were asked to guess the number of balls. The lucky winner received a Driving experience in a Porsche.
The weather was kind to us, if a bit windy, but the sun shone and the wonderful grass courts were in use. We also ran a second Saturday 23 May as a Standard Open Day. This was not so successful so next year we may do something different.
Thanks are due to our coaches Nigel Buckman, Anjan Chowdhury and Pierre Clad who kept everyone busy with cardio tennis, drills and a speed of serve competition for the adults. Tea with Pimms and mini scones went down very well.
We also thank all our wonderful “Hosts” who did such a great job in looking after our guests, answering their questions, giving guided tours of the Mansion, playing tennis with them and encouraging them to sign up! Waseem Khan, our Duty Manager on the weekend, attended to our every need and took some amazing pictures.
Last but not least, we wish to thank our Chief Executive, David Cook, Maz O’Brien, his PA and Sue Partridge, who secured the Porsche funding, for their input behind the scenes and membership support on the day.
