We held our annual Junior Awards Evening on Friday at Welwyn Tennis Club. It was a great success, celebrating the fabulous year Hertfordshire has had in both Adult and Junior events.
I would like to thank Sybil Howgego, Jennifer Keates, John Bruley, Natalia Ilkow and Harry James for their help and making the evening such a positive one. We had about 30 mini players representing various clubs around the County, along with their parents. They were attending to collect their Mini league certificates. We all enjoyed some pizza and a drink and thanked Welwyn for making us feel so welcome. Not many of the County Team players could attend from our successful Lionel Cox and 14U teams as they were all travelling to competitive events around the country. However we congratulated them all and presented Josie Singer with a framed photo of the 14U National Girl Champions as a thank you for her 10 year service with Teresa Lilley Captaining the girls. Fortunately Teresa is staying on Captaining the side this year.
I hope the parents and players were inspired to hear of the Counties success and safe in the knowledge that being part of Herts is a special deal with every opportunity for the young players to carry on in the footsteps of our leading players.
This really is a good way of spreading the word and lovely to congratulate the mini teams with their success. I hope we can continue to have this evening and try and get even more players to attend from our many clubs next year.
