A lot of Mini Tennis has been played over the winter in the Mini Tennis League, which means that clubs, coaches and parents have been busily occupied organising and running 1,219 matches, which include 503 Red matches, 440 Orange matches and 276 Green matches. They have all done a great job! Not to mention the players.
Jenny Holden, who helped organise the league for many years, came along to assist at the Red Finals on Saturday 24th March at David Lloyd Bushey and to quote her ‘I cannot believe what I am seeing; the technique and athleticism of these young players improve every year.’ 421 Hertfordshire club players competed for their clubs in 75 teams.
There is always a disappointment in such events and the biggest disappointment is the overall number of girls who played. Of the 421 total only 115 were girls and sadly some clubs did not play any girls in any of their matches. Teams without girls have points deducted! Langley deserves praise as they played three girls in their Orange team and only lost to the Batchwood Orange Bulls in the final.
David Lloyd, Bushey hosted the Mini Tennis Red Finals on Saturday 24th March 2012. Letchworth Red Lobbers beat Batchwood Red Bulls by only one point!
