Final reminder to all our Juniors – the club’s Junior Closed Championships will be held over the weekend of 7th, 8th and 9th December. Events are: Singles 8yrs, 9yrs, 10yrs, 12yrs, 14yrs and 18 yrs and Doubles 10yrs, 12yrs and 18yrs. The event is sponsored by our major sponsor Auxesia Ltd and there is no entry fee. This event will be run on the LTA’s Fast 4 scoring system – i.e. sets one and two first to four games, tie-break at three all with deciding set a tie breaker. Singles will be completed on Friday and Saturday with Doubles on Sunday. If you enter please allow the whole day for your events. Entries close at 7pm on Tuesday 4th December. You can leave your entry form in the white post box in the clubroom or e-mail ianwatsonpts@manx.net. So far there is a good entry for the 8 and under but more are welcome in all age groups.
Our membership Secretary Jan Gaskill has organised a Christmas Lucky draw – “Which snowflake has a prize under it?” There are hidden prizes – the first is a Shoprite hamper - and proceeds will go to clubhouse improvement funds. Jan would welcome two more “Christmassy” prizes (i.e. a box of crackers or chocolates). Snowflakes are for sale from this weekend.
Despite the poor weather on Wednesday there was a good attendance at the club’s AGM – full report next week.
