On Saturday and Sunday 22nd & 23rd March. 28 of our best 9 & Under and 10 & Under players in Kent all competed for the honour of being the County Winter Leaderboard Champion in their age group.
All of the boys and girls had achieved a lot just to reach the finals and the excellent standard of play on the day reflected this.
Both of the finals of the 9U Orange events were very close .Hugo Coquelin (West Heath Tennis Centre) defeated Joseph Richards (Appeti Tennis Centre - Canterbury) 7-2 7-4 to win the boys and Daisy Carpenter (Bromley Tennis Centre) overcame the valiant efforts of Emily Bolton (Bromley Tennis Centre) 7-4 7-3 in another tough fought contest.
The Boys 10U Green was equally competitive, with Vaughan Watson (The Parklangley Club) beating Maksim Balas (Gravesham Lawn Tennis Club), in two sets, 4-1 4-0. As there were only 4 girls in the 10U girls event they played round robin format with Alaia Rubio Perez (Bromley Tennis Centre) winning the title and Sofia Johnson (Bromley Tennis Centre) the runner-up.
All of the players had competed well over the winter season and had earned the right to compete in the finals and should be really proud of their achievement. It was a very entertaining day and thanks go to the players, all of their parents and supporters and to the staff of Bromley Tennis Centre for their help in making the event a terrific success.
