The finals of the Kent Inter Schools Tennis Competition were held at the Tunbridge Wells Lawn Tennis Club on Friday 1 July 2016.
The competition attracted a strong entry from 25 schools, in three age groups (Junior, Intermediate and Senior) for boys and girls. There were 80 teams involving 320 students this year. Despite the difficult wet weather conditions this summer, the schools did well to complete all their matches in time for finals day. The Tunbridge Wells LTC, not only provides an excellent venue for these finals but as many of the students play their tennis at Kent clubs, it provides a very positive link between schools and clubs in the county.
The finals of the competition were again dominated by Sevenoaks School. The school reached four of the six finals (Senior and Intermediate girls and boys), winning all four of these finals. Kent College Canterbury was the only school to challenge Sevenoaks, running them very close in the Senior Girls final. The match was tied 3-3, but Sevenoaks won on sets, 7 sets to 6.
In the Junior Girls finals, Walthamstow Hall beat Benenden 6 – 0. In the Junior Boys final, Langley Park won a close match 4 – 2 against Norton Knatchbull.
