Charity Tennis Day at Bromley Cricket Club

With Wimbledon upon us, the Kent Men’s tennis team graced the grass courts of the Bromley Cricket Club for a charity event like no other held in the Borough.

Members of the club paid for the opportunity to play in a Pro Am event followed by an exhibition match between East and North Kent, all in aid of the Burgess Autistic Trust. With one of the strongest teams Kent could put out, including three players who have played at the Wimbledon Championships themselves, it was a feast of tennis that not even the weather could dampen.

The green grass of Bromley saw a nail-biting afternoon of exhibition tennis that ended in an honourable draw, with the real winner being the charity which benefited from all the donations raised by the members of Bromley Cricket Club. "I hope this is the first of many of these types of events" said Andy Burgoyne, the Kent men’s captain, who went on to thank both the Kent Lawn Tennis Association and the All England Lawn Tennis Club for providing them with some fantastic, “once in a lifetime” prizes for their charity raffle and to Bromley Cricket Club for hosting the event on their high quality grass courts.

The Kent Men’s team will be in action at Devonshire Park in Eastbourne from the 23rd-27th of July in Division 1 of the National Inter County grass court championships. Admission is free, so come and see some fantastic post-Wimbledon, pre-Olympic tennis and support the Kent team.
