At the Lancashire Sport 2017 Presentation evening on November 24th at the Blackpool Hilton Hotel, Lancaster Tennis Club was awarded a Certificate as Lancaster area Community Club of the Year 2017 which is a great achievement. The Club was particularly commended for its very active and successful junior programme, for introducing wheelchair tennis, for its link with the local Community Centre and for achieving the LTA Tennismark accreditation again. The Club was also runner up for the award of Lancashire Community Club of the year, receiving a great trophy as the 'Highly Commended'' Club.
Chairman Steve Garland said:
“ We are delighted that our efforts to develop an inclusive and active club have been recognised by Lancashire Sport. We are particularly proud of our junior section which has been developed from scratch in the last 6 years by our very active and supportive Junior Organiser Pat Clelland – winner of the Tennis Lancashire Volunteer of the Year 2017 award - and Club Level 4 Coach Eden Parkinson of Edentennis. We look forward to the next season with plans to further develop our Club and improve access and the floodlights.“
