A local tennis player has been busy collecting signatures on a flag to fly at the forthcoming Special Olympics being held next month in the county.

Leicester College student Tom Styles, who is to represent the Great Britain team, got the autographs of the pop band, McFly, at their De Montfort Hall gig in Leicester.

Tom, from Melton, had earlier in the day collected the signature of his college principal, Maggie Galliers.

He is going to tennis matches and theatres in London to obtain more signatures before the Special Olympics in Leicester in July.

Tom said: "The Special Olympics is an important event, not only for those that take part in it, but also for the city and nationally, and to receive this support for the event is fantastic."
