Leicestershire women over-40s demolished a strong Surrey side in the final of the Inter-County National play-off competition at Dudley.
It was an outstanding achievement for the team, who were competing in their first-ever play-off final.
The Leicestershire team was made up of Anne Meredith, Alison Ison, Jo Pick, Sue McChrystal and Clare Hatto.
They got off to the perfect start when Ison, from Roundhill Tennis Club, beat Zoe Taylor, the daughter of former Davis Cup captain Roger Taylor, 6-3, 6-3.
Meredith, a former tennis professional who now lives in Wakefield, followed that up with a comfortable 6-1, 6-2 win against Alison Taylor.
Victory was sealed by captain Sue McChrystal (Leicestershire Tennis Club) and partner Jo Pick (Roundhill), who beat a strong combination of Hazel Middleton and Nicola Cooper in three sets.
