Ryan Parmar

Melton Mowbray's Ryan Parmar admits his chance to get up close and personal with tennis superstars Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray at the ATP World Tour Finals cannot come quick enough.

After fighting off competition from 2,500 children across the country Parmar, 15, will be one of 30 Barclays Ball Kids at the O2 Arena in London from November 20-27.

Parmar spent his half-term at The Hampshire Rackets & Health Club in Southampton being put through his paces ready for his week in the spotlight in the capital.

And while he is expecting a tough week's work at the O2, Parmar, a Long Field High School pupil, cannot wait to share the court with Murray and Co.

"It was a good week at the training camp," said Parmar, who will also rub shoulders with Novak Djokovic – winner of three of the four Grand Slams in 2011 – and 16-time Grand Slam winner Roger Federer.

"And now I am really excited about going to the finals in London. I am most excited about seeing Roger Federer because I have never seen him live before.

"I have been to the O2 twice before to watch so to be on the court and close to all the players is going to be great."
