Oakham Tennis Club held its junior finals day earlier this month with the under 8 and under 9 competitions played in very cold conditions.
The U8s tournament was played in a round robin format with the club’s six top players – William Begy, Ben Morton, Eoin Muris, George Emerson, Josh Sennet and Jenna Davies – all taking part.
Eventual winner was William and head coach at Oakham, Dan Potter, said: “He proved to be unstoppable with his net game.”
In second place was George but Potter was very impressed by Jenna who, as the only girl in the competition, gave all the boys a good run for his money.
Oliver Drakard beat Angus Watkins in an entertaining U9s final with some fantastic shots and rallies.
Unfortunately the boys U12 final between Alexander Rooney and Henry Shepard had to be postponed as the weather deteriorated.
