Desford's Matthew Chilvers marked his international debut by winning gold at the European Special Olympics in Luxembourg.
He became the youngest Great Britain Special Olympics tennis player to win a gold medal in a European competition.
Held on the indoor courts at the National Tennis Centre, in Esch-sur-Alzette, the event saw more than 80 athletes from 18 countries competing.
Chilvers said "I can't believe it. I would really like to thank the County Sports Partnership and Tennis Leicestershire, who supported me this year.
"I'd also like to thank my coach, Alec Matty, from Desford Lawn Tennis Club, who has been brilliant."
This has been a great year for Chilvers who won, among others, the Special Disability award at the Tennis Leicestershire awards, and silver and gold medals at the Special Olympic National Games in Bath in September.
