Horncastle Tennis Club has been rewarded for its commitment to growing the game and supporting National Mini Tennis Week, sponsored by Highland Spring which took place 11th to 17th June 2012.
As a result the club will receive a £100 voucher towards some LTA Mini Tennis merchandise and two tickets to the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in November, courtesy of the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) and Highland Spring.
National Mini Tennis Week took place in schools, parks and tennis centres up and down the country and was launched by Gabby and Kenny Logan, LTA Mini Tennis ambassadors earlier in the summer. The main focus of the activity was in Nottingham where schools from the area took part in LTA Mini Tennis sessions coordinated by LTA qualified coaches and instructors from South Notts college.
As part of the LTA’s drive to encourage tennis venues to take part in National Mini Tennis Week, the sport’s National Governing Body ran a competition inviting clubs to run LTA Mini Tennis activity and share their pictures, videos and stories about the activities which took place.
Horncastle Tennis Club was one of five competition winners who hosted LTA Mini Tennis activity. The event proved to be highly successful with children in the local area.
LTA Mini Tennis is aimed at getting children between the ages of three and ten playing tennis. It offers the perfect introduction to the sport with smaller courts, nets and rackets with lower bouncing balls. We also offer programmes such as Cardio Tennis, a tennis based fitness class and Tennis Xpress, an instructional tennis course designed for starter players, which will be launched soon.
