Lincs 10U Boys County Cup rained off

The boys under 10 County cup took place on the 2nd and 3rd of June at Loughborough Lawn Tennis Club. Fielding a strong team of Otto Jawahir, Euan Baker, Lucas East, Greg colclough and Joe fisher we were in for a good weekend of tennis.

AEGON 10U County Cup Girls Report

The qualifying matches for the Regional Under-10 Girls’ County Cup were held on Saturday and Sunday, 2^nd and 3^rd June at Eastgate Tennis Club in Lincoln.

The Lincolnshire Team was captained by Coach, Sam Bass with assistants Helen and Diana Povah. Three training sessions were held in different clubs around Lincolnshire to select four team members, with the successful players being Lucy Hull, Faith Coffey, Paris Royal, Amy Goddard and reserve Sophie O’Boyle.

Powder Byrne National Tennis Trophy 2012

Entries for Britain’s largest Tennis Tournament, the Powder Byrne Junior and Open Tennis Trophy are now being accepted.

Running from 21^st July to 9^th December 2012, the Powder Byrne Tennis Trophy is a Grade 3 LTA approved tournament and will feature Junior Boys and Girls Singles events for: 8 & Under (Red Ball), 9 & Under (Orange Ball), 12 & Under, 14 & Under, 16 & Under and 18 & Under, Men’s and Women’s singles, as well as the opportunity to play as a Father and Son, Father and Daughter, Mother and Son or Mother and Daughter combination, in one of the Family Doubles events, and new in 2012, a Men’s over 45’s veterans singles.

Lincolnshire School Games

There are 46 county festivals taking place across the country over the summer of which tennis is a part of 43 and more than 1,000 young people took part in ten sports at Lincolnshire School Games Level 3 Festival.

Eight schools from across Lincolnshire were victorious in their local borough or partnership Year 3 & 4 Mini Tennis Red competition to earn their place in the School Games.

Grantham Silver Spirits

Andy Murray was surprise ‘dish’ of the day for Grantham Tennis Club’s ‘Active at 60’ tennis fans on a recent visit to the Lawn Tennis Association’s National Tennis Centre, Roehampton.

The ‘Active at 60’ group received funding from the Silver spirit programme which is run by Lincolnshire Sports partnership.
