Corby Tennis Centre have organised a FREE Open Day this Sunday 21st July from 11.00-15.00 to celebrate Andy Murrays success at Wimbledon. We will have coaches on hand to challenge all comers to ‘Beat the Pro’, Target Practise, Ball Machine, Fastest Serve competition, free court time, BBQ etc etc. It is open to all ages and abilities as we will have lots of Mini Tennis nets and equipment out as well.
Craig Haworth, Centre Manager says “we were delighted recently when we did a Mini Tennis Open Evening, and had almost 100 children come along to try tennis, mostly for the first time. Of those who came along, nearly 30 of them signed up for coaching courses, which is fantastic. I am hoping that watching Andy Murray play such an outstanding tournament at Wimbledon will have inspired a new generation to take the sport up. We already have a number of terrific juniors of all ages playing here every week, as we have around 250 children taking part in what is the largest coaching programme in the County. We also want those people with ‘rusty racquets’ to brush off the cobwebs and have a bash around, and this is the perfect opportunity while it is all free of charge.”
The Centre has also had good news recently I that it is to stage an additional Aegon British Tour event in September. Loughborough University usually stage the event, but due to a double booking, the LTA have asked Corby to host the extra event on the back of the success when it holds its annual Aegon British Tour in February. There is also a likleyhood of another Open Day in November close to the date of the Barclays ATP World Masters event at the 02.
