The Avenue Tennis Club will host LTA Grade 3 Junior and Adult Tennis Competitions, supported by RBC Capital Markets and Tony Pryce Sports, from Sunday 18th August until Saturday 24th August.
This year both the adult and junior tournaments will run together making it one of the Counties largest competitions with 298 players from under 8’s to Veterans playing throughout the week in a variety of events from singles to mixed doubles. The event has some of the best juniors in Somerset and from around the country competing for the Avenue Open together with players from Somerset playing in the Somerset Closed to be crowned Somerset Champion. The matches normally start early morning and continue throughout the day until early evening so why not take advantage of this great FREE sporting event, come along and see some fantastic live tennis – hot and cold food is available throughout the day and the clubs bar will be open. The majority of the finals will be played on Saturday 24th August and on the evening of 23rd the club is holding a Pig Roast for competitors and anyone wishing to come along to the club.
Head Coach Vinny Duddy said this is a great opportunity for local people to come along and see some fantastic tennis at probably the best faclities in the county.
Duddy was also keen to remind readers that the Wimbledon New Adult Membership deal of half price membership together with 6 group tennis lessons would continue for the rest of the summer; anyone wishing to take advantage of the offer can ring the club - 01278 782758.
