SPORT MAKERS WORKSHOP - 6TH & 8TH JULY 2012

Monday, June 25, 2012

A Sport Makers Workshop is being held at Millfield School on 6th and 8th July 2012.

The Sport Makers programme will recruit, train and deploy 40,000 new sports volunteers aged 16 years and over to organise and lead community sporting activities across the country.

Volunteers will have a positive and inspiring introduction to the world of sport volunteering via a series of workshops delivered locally through a training provider and in conjunction with a county sports partnership. We anticipate that many volunteers will continue to give of their time, further increasing sport participation long after the 2012 Games are held in the UK.

These Sport Makers will organise and support hundreds of thousands of new hours of grassroots sport, creating new opportunities across the country. While doing so, they will bring the Olympic and Paralympic values to life in every community.

Sport Makers will be fully inclusive and target participants including people who have a disability, both males and females and participants from BME groups.

  • Somerset Activity & Sports Partnership is looking to recruit 400 Sport Makers, to support a range of community sports activities across Somerset by 2013. The project is part of Sport England’s Mass Participation Olympic Legacy programme for more info click here
