Great British Tennis Weekend Returns to Somerset

Free tennis is returning to your doorstep this June in the second part of the LTA's Great British Tennis Weekend which will offer sport for all the family.



After the huge success of the first weekend, 17th and 18th May, in the series of four events saw hundreds of families taking part in fantastic and free tennis activities, spirits are high going into the second stage. With top international tennis coming to Britain in June and July at the Wimbledon Championships , the Aegon Championships, the Aegon Classic and the Aegon International, the public will no doubt be consumed with tennis fever.

Participating venues include;
- Yeovil Recreational Ground
- Wiveliscombe Tennis Club
- Bridgwater Tennis Club
- Stoke St.Gregory Tennis Club
- Frome Selwood Tennis Club
- Taunton Tennis Club
- Westfield Academy Trust

These venues are offering a range of activities such as; Cardio Tennis, family tennis, Mini-Tennis, junior tennis, disability tennis, Tennis Xpress, serving competitions and free play sessions.

These events will be on the first of four weekends over the summer and will take place on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd for all ages and abilities.

Wileliscombe Tennis Club [10am-1pm] and Bridgwater Tennis Club [1pm-2:30pm] are active on the Saturday with Mini-Tennis, Cardio Tennis, free play tennis and much more.

Frome Selwood Tennis Club [10am-4pm], Taunton Tennis Club [10am-12pm] and Westfield Academy Trust [1pm-4pm] are opening their doors on the Sunday lots of great activities, such as; Tennis Xpress, serving competitions, free play tennis, family tennis and many more.

Some venues are hosting events over both days of the weekend, Yeovil Recreational Ground and Stoke St.Gregory Tennis Club are welcoming the public on the Saturday and the Sunday for family tennis, free play tennis and junior coaching.

Volunteers and coaches will be on hand to help out and there will be rackets and balls to borrow so all you need is a pair of trainers.

The Great British Tennis Weekend events have an online booking system that members of the public can use to book their place on various sessions and activities for their chosen days and venues.

The third event of the series is just a week later, 28th June and 29th June, on the middle Sunday of the Wimbledon Championships, so there is double the opportunity to get signed on for some brilliant free tennis sessions.
