Tennis officials from Taunton have been gearing up for the British summer season by attending a Competition Organiser and Referee Workshop at Taunton Vale Sports Club this week.
The workshops, which cover a wide range of officiating topics from tournament organisation to competition updates, are being held to give organisers and officials an opportunity to share best practice with others and to feedback any thoughts and suggestions.
The event at Taunton Vale Sports Club is one of ten hosted across the country during March and April with over 380 people registered on the sessions.
The theme for this year’s workshop was Tournament Organisation and as well as covering this area, there was also an update on Fair Play during the five-hour session.
The workshops reinforce the Lawn Tennis Association’s (LTA) commitment to maintaining high officiating standards as well as supporting over 8,000 competitions across all levels each year.
Sarah Wooding, the LTA Officiating Development Manager, said: “The Competition Organiser and Referee Workshops are a great opportunity for us to see a large number of our organisers and officials ‘face-to-face’, enabling us to cover key themes, provide updates and support them in delivering quality competition.
“They also provide us with the chance to thank them for all their hard work in delivering over 8000 competitions per year.”
