Following the departure of head coach, Phil Lawton, who is joining the RAF pilot training programme, Frome Selwood Tennis club has appointed Chris Matthews as its new Head Coach. ‘Chris brings a wealth of coaching experience with him having set up tennis programmes in the UK, USA and Spain,’ said John Price, Chair of the Tennis Club. ‘He is an LTA Senior Core Coach, level 4 which means he is very well equipped to develop activities for all ages and abilities. Whilst we were sad to lose Phil and are very grateful for all the work he undertook at the Club, we are delighted to welcome Chris.’
To introduce Chris to club members and members of the public who are interested in taking up tennis or re-visiting it a ‘Meet the Coach’ evening has been planned. ‘I am so pleased to be joining Frome Selwood Tennis Club,’ said Chris ‘and come with a lot of exciting ideas. I am really looking forward to encouraging all players to enjoy and develop their game in what seems to be a very friendly and fun club.' To discover some new perspectives about tennis and find ways to play more effectively the ‘Meet the Coach’ evening is being held at Frome Selwood Tennis Club, off Somerset Road, 7pm – 8pm on Thursday April 16.
