Somerset Star Toby Mitchell has recently confirmed he is going to follow in the footsteps of a number of other Somerset players by going to America to play college tennis. Mitchell who is to attend Boise State University in Idaho has been training hard at the University of Bath and travelling around the globe competing in International Tennis Federation Events.
Mitchell is joining fellow Somerset player Andrew Bettles at Boise – where the coaches have a strong understanding of talent in the cider loving county.
Mitchell also follows Andrew Bettles older brother Matthew to the states. Matt Bettles is at Bates College in Maine, New England. County Week stalwart Alistair Felton spent three years at Ivy League College, Harvard and is still living in America working near Chicago.
Mitchell also took a trip to New York to meet Daniel Manlow who attended Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina and in the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Alabama. Manlow moved onto to coach at Randall’s Sport Time Island in New York, which is owned by John McEnroe. Pictured below is Manlow and Mitchell in New York.
