Sunday 20th December 2009 saw the U14's round of the 12 Counties tournament take place at The Corby Indoor Tennis Centre, Northampton. The boys were in a very good position with Warwickshire being able to field a near full strength squad however due to injury and other tennis commitments the girls team was very much a inexperienced yet nether the less extremely determined squad with all the girls wanting to impress to force their way into regular contention for Warwickshire squads.
The results for the U14 Boys squad were as follows:
Hertfordshire v Warwickshire (Warwickshire Win 3-1)
Cambridgeshire v Warwickshire (Warwickshire Win 3-1)
Yorkshire v Warwickshire (Warwickshire Win 3-1)
An excellent day for the U14 boys squad winning all three of their ties taking 1st place overall and gaining a maximum total of 4 points.
The results for the U14 Girls squad were as follows:
Hertfordshire v Warwickshire (Hertfordshire Win 3-1)
Cambridgeshire v Warwickshire (2-2 Draw)
Yorkshire v Warwickshire (Yorkshire Win 4-0)
Overall a very tough day for the girls however their determination and team spirit could not be faulted throughout the event. The girls however did manage to pick up a valuable point towards the Warwickshire 12 Counties cause which gives Warwickshire a grand total of 10 points, just 2 points off the top of Division 1 with the U16 and U18 events still to go.
