It was minus 2'c when the stoic crowd at Henley in Arden tennis club arrived for their annual Christmas tournament.
Despite the freezing weather spirits were high, and so was the turnout. Members battled away in pairs supervised by Head Coach Sarah Baker, who was ready with mugs of steaming coffee and hot mince pies when they finished play.
The winners Jane Palmer, with her partner Caroline Gionis, Anne Crooks with her partner Judy Wilde were treated to a round of applause by their opponents.
This bought to a close the festive fun at Henley where their annual children’s party last week had a large waiting list and a successful Christmas lunch was enjoyed at the Crabmill.
