AEGON Classic Kids Day Review

Sunday, June 10, 2012

For this year’s AEGON Classic qualifying weekend WLTA organised a ‘Kids Day’ which featured free tennis fun for all members of the family.  The day included:

  • Free Cardio Tennis and Touch Tennis Sessions perfect for the older children and adults to take part in.  Cardio tennis is a great way to keep fit and play some tennis at the same time, perfect for parents!  The touch tennis is a great way for those who have maybe not played for a while and those who are new to the sport as it features smaller courts, quick games and bigger balls.
  • A chance for children to meet and have their photos with two of the new mini tennis mascots, Alfie and Suzi.
  • Live music from local band ‘Uninvited Guestz’ and on set D.J throughout the day.
  • A successful world record attempt in most people attempting tennis freestyle tricks at one time.

Everyone who attended had a great day, the weather was brilliant with Sun from start to finish.  We also had a couple of celebrities and ex-tennis professionals come and help out with the world record attempt in Andrew Castle and Jeremy Bates.  The day was an excellent way to set up the coming weeks tennis tournament with many people opting to stick around and watch the qualifying matches that were also taking place throughout the day’s activities.
