Marc McCarroll justified top seedng to retain his men’s singles title in Montreal after partnering David Phillipson to win the men’s doubles.
A week after bowing out to Phillipson in the singles semi-finals of the PTR Championships, McCarroll came out on top this time, beating second seed Phillipson 6-3, 6-4.
“I am very pleased to have defended my title from last year. It was great to come back from last week’s disappointment of losing to Dave and to turn it around and win in straight sets this week is really pleasing,” said McCarroll. ”I am hoping to carry on the success of this week to have a strong end to the year leading into the start of the Rio 2016 qualification period next year.”

Marc McCarroll and David Phillipson clinched their second doubles title together in the space of a week and also set up an-British men’s singles final on the penultimate day of play in Montreal.
The British top seeds defeated Canadians second seeds Philippe Bedard and Joel Dembe 6-2, 6-3 to follow up their men’s doubles victory at last week’s PTR Championships on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
McCarroll had his toughest task to date in his singles title defence in Montreal, but the British No. 2 and top seed recovered from dropping the second set to beat French third seed Lahcen Majdi 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 in his semi-final.
The manner of Phillipson’s passage to his third singles final in successive weeks in North America could not have been much more different as the British No. 3 powered past Moroccan fourth seed Lhaj Boukartacha with his second 6-0, 6-0 victory in a row.

Marc McCarroll and David Phillipson moved into the men’s doubles final as well as keeping themselves on course for a possible all-British men’s singles final as both players eased into the last four.
The top seeds eased past Morocco’s Lhaj Boukartacha and Frenchman Lahcen Majdi 6-3, 6-1 to earn their place in the men’s doubles final against Canadian second seeds Philippe Bedard and Joel Dembe
Top seed McCarroll will now meet third seed Majdi in the men’s singles semi-finals after securing a 6-4, 6-0 second round win over Dembe. In the bottom half of the draw second seed Phillipson will play seed Boukartacha in the singles semi-finals following his 6-0, 6-0 second round win over Marko Golic of Canada.

With Marc McCarroll and David Phillipson occupying the top two seed positions in the men’s singles in Montreal, both Brits got their campaigns off to confident starts.
Top seed McCarroll opened his Tennis Canada International title defence with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Brazil’s Rafael Medeiros, progressing to a quarter-final against Canada’s Joel Dembe.
Second seed Phillipson will face his second Canadian opponent in successive days in the last eight. After defeating Philippe Bedard 6-3, 6-3 in his opening match Phillipson will play Marko Golic for a place in the semi-finals.
McCarroll and Phillipson also got their doubles challenge off to a comfortable start, beating Canada's Maxime Beliveau and Claude Mongrain 6-0, 6-0 ahead of a semi-final against Lhaj Boukartacha of Morocco and Lahcen Majdi of France.
