Congratulations to the Maidenhead AEGON Men’s1 and Ladies1 on another fine season resulting in promotion to the national league, and to Men’s2 for consolidating their position in the regional division, a great accomplishment also. Men’s1 were undefeated in this summer’s regional tournament. The women have been here before with meteoric prog...ress from county to regional to national league in successive years, only to meet national champions Holton in their first match which was a big ask of any team finding their feet in the top league. But top league they must be. Following temporary relegation last year, they are back in the nationals again, following results which make it clear they deserve to be there. On the last day of the league we had already finished all our matches and sat 2nd with 10 points from 6 matches! (Only losing to East Gloucester) they had the same number of points but from 5 matches. Winchester then beat East Gloucester on this last day and we ended up on the same number of points as East Gloucester but had won 3 more rubbers and lost 4 less than them overall! Meaning we won the league!!
