Berkshire's Darren Mitchell won B Division singles at the latest Wheelchair Tennis Development Series event at Gosling Tennis Centre, Welwyn Garden City
The tournament’s two women’s entrants and two quad division entrants all contested the B Division singles in a four-way round-robin. Mitchell took the honours after the Reading player and Cardiff’s Davis both beat Tracey Proudlock and Andrea Weston. The deciding contest between Mitchell and Davis provided a much closer encounter, with Mitchell eventually edging two tie-breaks to prevail 5-4(6), 5-4(6).
However, it was a different result when Davis and Mitchell went head-to-head in the one-off quad singles play-off, with Davis dominating a third and deciding set to win 5-3, 3-5, 4-0.
