Luv Tennis have started the Grand slam match play series which will be runnnig throughout the year with events held at Bucks Indoor Tennis Centre, High Wycombe Lawn Tennis Club and Hazlemere Tennis Club. There are 4 Majors - Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and US Open. The 4 slams are scheduled at similar times to the pro-circuit tournaments with the top 8 players with the most points going into the asters competition at the end of the year.
The first 4 Match plays have started with high participation rounding up with the Austrailain Open Match play. The day started with U18 6.2 girls with Rebekah Charlotte Oloughlin and India Sanders coming through the matches with close wins to play for the double points in the final in which the 1st set was a close 5-3 going to India and then going on to take a convincing 2nd set and the match. The day then turned to the U12 boys 9.1 and U14 Boys 8.2 ratings in which all matches went the distance. The Final of the 9.1 boys was played a high level with the 1st set going to Ciaran Walsh 5-3. Unfortunately the match finished at the end of the set due to his opponent Alex Stingelin retiring with a wrist injury. Everyone at Luv Tennis wishes him a speedy recovery! The 8.2 boys were played quicker than the 9.1s with matches being won in straight sets. The outcome of this category saw Edward Green winning both matches dropping only 2 games throughout. We are sure he will be moving up to 8.2s pretty soon! Finally the U14 9.1 and 10.2 ratings entered with victories from Jonathan Khan in the 9.1s and Thomas Wright in the 10.2s allowed them to claim double points.
